But this announcement is late in coming this month, so I am putting a really great collection on sale for 25% off through the end of September. I forgot the rolling cart <strike>we</strike> (my son) use(s) to carry in all the plastic bins full of fabric...never again!!! Each show is a whole new learning experience. I LOVE meeting lots of quilters and discussing lots of quilty things! I wish I could go to more of the shows but, alas, there's the day job...due to that pesky need to eat and pay bills and stuff! Here is one photo of my booth. I didn't bring the bookshelves this time. Brandon was really relieved about that!

I also finished the Haunted Mansion quilt top just in time to bring it. I was still cutting the kits at the show - but I did sell one!

If you are anywhere near there, please come by and see me (Booth 20)! I am so excited - this will be my third show - but it will be the first time I'll be traveling far enough to necessitate a hotel stay!

I never noticed my mistake in the layout of my Haunted Mansion quilt, even when I was sewing it together this past Sunday. I didn't really see it until looking at the picture on the blog today! Fortunately, I have not completely sewn the top together...but, of course, the three rows surrounding the blocks turned the wrong way are nice and secure! So here I sit, before work, bleary-eyed, trying to gently rip out the seams so I can turn my blocks around. Ten years of quilting, and this is my first really BIG mistake (I guess that's a good thing). So, construction continues with the project going into overtime......Shelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11732544635533006813noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456575920429283744.post-15184579039180430562011-08-14T19:58:00.000-05:002011-08-14T19:58:41.273-05:00Haunted Mansion...Building in ProgressThis is adorable, even before I get the borders on! I still need to sew everything together before I add borders. Hopefully, I'll have that done within a week. I sure wish I had more time each day to sew!!!

The problem is that I often don't feel like I'm making much headway day by day. There is so much to do, so little time… We are all constantly moving at a breakneck pace these days, just trying to cram as much into each day as possible. The end of the day approaches and we just can’t give up and get to bed for some much needed rest. I am often dragging myself to bed once I’m so tired, I just can’t see straight anymore!
So, if you are like me, and you just can’t find enough hours in the day…answer this question: Aside from UFO’s, what is the number one item on your quilter’s bucket list?
This is my "Question of the Month" and I will give away this adorable bundle of six fat quarters to one lucky winner! Just post your comment by August 31 (love that day, it's my birthday!) and I will draw a winner on September 1st!

This will remain on sale for a while longer. Moda Boutique by Chez Moi is really beautiful and would be perfect for summer quilts or picnic blankets!

The Cat's Meow by South Sea Imports has really been popular (especially the yellow Confetti)...not much left, but I do have some of all four prints!

Flowers of The Sun by South Sea Imports is close to gone, but I still have a good bit of the beautiful leaf prints and the soft sunflower shapes in gold and yellow. These colors would work into your fall quilts very well.Shelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11732544635533006813noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456575920429283744.post-90272120957267058762011-07-18T19:44:00.000-05:002011-07-18T19:57:57.670-05:00Something Cool.........

It is becoming such a brutally hot summer, that the heat is rarely far from my mind. That made me start thinking about gathering some cool tips for quilters. I started looking around for things to help you stay cool or things to do when dealing with the heat...
That’s when I found an article about a group of quilters making “cool wraps” for soldiers in Afghanistan. In case you’ve been living under a rock (like me) cool wraps are long fabric tubes filled with polymer crystals that you soak in water and wrap around your neck or head to help keep you cool. Think about starting your own charity project or about giving this as a gift to someone who does yard work, construction work, etc.
eHow has a great page with directions for assembly and other suggested uses at http://www.ehow.com/how_5823909_make-cool-polymer-wraps.html, and you can find the polymer crystals at http://www.watercrystals.com/ . I don’t have the crystals yet to try this project, but if anyone has made some of these, I would love to see your posts!Shelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11732544635533006813noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5456575920429283744.post-54704842614527461412011-07-15T05:00:00.000-05:002011-07-15T05:00:53.590-05:00Follow This Blog........Starting on August 1st, I will be giving away a fat quarter bundle each month to Blog Followers who post in answer to a given blog entry.
I was planning to offer a striking wall quilt kit from the project sheet on the Quilting Treasures website, but I sold almost all of the focus fabric in one order. Enter Tammie (my sales rep) to the rescue! When I called to order more, she could not find any inventory, but she promised to search for me - and she called me back to let me know she found some!!! She said this fabric continues to be really popular even after two years. I am excited to say that I will have those kits available after all...so check back, and I'll let you know when the new stuff arrives!
I hope everyone is having a great summer. There is nothing better than filling time on the weekends with family visits! We are spending a lot of time out by the pool this year. In fact, my husband is outside right now installing lights for night time swimming fun.
I found a great way to display my fabric, which really seemed to improve sales. This is such a learning process, but I am having so much fun as I go. Our 2011 raffle quilt, which is pictured in my last post from March, won a blue ribbon at the show this weekend! I'm posting a couple of pictures of my booth and my sample quilts.
I am learning a lot about running a business as I try to nourish and grow my new online quilt shop. I never thought I would work so hard! It was exciting to see the website come together, and I continue to tweek it here and there.

I wanted to share some pictures of my first booth!
