2011: a quilt odyssey in Houston, Texas

I'm back from Houston, and it was a lot of hard work and fun! I forgot the rolling cart we (my son) use(s) to carry in all the plastic bins full of fabric...never again!!! Each show is a whole new learning experience. I LOVE meeting lots of quilters and discussing lots of quilty things! I wish I could go to more of the shows but, alas, there's the day job...due to that pesky need to eat and pay bills and stuff! Here is one photo of my booth. I didn't bring the bookshelves this time. Brandon was really relieved about that!

I also finished the Haunted Mansion quilt top just in time to bring it. I was still cutting the kits at the show - but I did sell one!

So Much To Do....So Little Time....

I am so busy every evening right now, getting kits and bundles cut and fabric bolts priced for the quilt show in Houston on September 9 and 10, 2011: A Quilt Odyssey, to be held at the Stafford Centre. If you are anywhere near there, please come by and see me (Booth 20)! I am so excited - this will be my third show - but it will be the first time I'll be traveling far enough to necessitate a hotel stay!

I can't work fast enough! Feel like there is still so much to do before next Thursday.

Preparing lots of FQ bundles....lots more to go!

I'm taking some beautiful new fall yardage from Quilting Treasures and Benartex, also holiday stuff, and I'm bundling all my clearance and marked down fabrics! When I get back in mid-September, I'll put up another FQ bundle giveaway here...I'll keep you posted!

Construction Problems.....

Thank goodness for my blog!!! I never noticed my mistake in the layout of my Haunted Mansion quilt, even when I was sewing it together this past Sunday. I didn't really see it until looking at the picture on the blog today! Fortunately, I have not completely sewn the top together...but, of course, the three rows surrounding the blocks turned the wrong way are nice and secure! So here I sit, before work, bleary-eyed, trying to gently rip out the seams so I can turn my blocks around. Ten years of quilting, and this is my first really BIG mistake (I guess that's a good thing). So, construction continues with the project going into overtime......

This is adorable, even before I get the borders on! I still need to sew everything together before I add borders. Hopefully, I'll have that done within a week. I sure wish I had more time each day to sew!!!

The Quilter's Bucket List

I have been really busy lately...haven't we all! The problem is that I often don't feel like I'm making much headway day by day. There is so much to do, so little time… We are all constantly moving at a breakneck pace these days, just trying to cram as much into each day as possible. The end of the day approaches and we just can’t give up and get to bed for some much needed rest. I am often dragging myself to bed once I’m so tired, I just can’t see straight anymore!
